# Aera V2 (Deprecated)

> Legacy vault protocol, now replaced by Aera V3

Aera V2 was the previous generation of the Aera vault protocol. It provided a simpler vault model with guardian-managed strategy execution, but lacked the modularity, hook system, and cross-chain capabilities introduced in V3. Aera V2 vaults are no longer being deployed, and the protocol is deprecated in favor of [Aera V3](/guides/concepts/supported-protocols/aera-v3/overview).
